This isn't a bad device when it's working. It's about as compatible as most, I guess, but it came apart way too easy. Soon the wires broke. Before I could fix it, most of the wires were detached. It wasn't hard to fix, so I took a picture of the wires and where they go, so maybe someone else can fix one! If you need a converter that is more compatible with other devices and programs, try the Keyspan. I've run ham radio equipment, GPS units, telescope controllers, back-to-back PCs and even PC<>MAC, and it works great. The cords could be longer, however.
